Etam Cru

Etam Cru is well known group from Poland composed of artists Sainer and Bezt. They painted dull walls of many European cities. Changed high-rised buildings with their bright, colorful images heavily dosed with fantasy, fairytale and folklore. Sainer and Bezt are known for their surrealistic images. Take care of details and always present advised ideas. Creativity and characteristic original style make their art outstanding in whole street art world. First steps as a street artists they took in Poland where graduated Academy of Fine Arts. They started working together as students. Each of them had own art style. Sainer’s was photo-realistic but Bezt’s was more cartoony. Naturally before started painting big murals they had to find their common way. Learning how to mix styles. It wasn’t easy but now their murals seems to be painting by one person. Every aspects of Etam Cru’s art bright colours, great light and transparency making wall lighter and more mysterious. Their work you can admire in Poland and other countries: Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Portugal, Russia and USA.  They belong to the most interesting, young group of street art creators so I keep finger crossed for their developing career.

P183

Pavel P183 (Russian: Павел Пухов) known as „Russian Banksy“ born 11 August 1983 in Moscow. Secretive Russian street artist acclaimed for his urban art installations and murals. He made inventive, ambitious street art that often had a political point.Very little information is known about Pavel P183’s personal life, even after his death. Like Banksy, he often worked at night. The number 183 was simply the number on his email address. Indeed Pavel began his street art at the age of 14 after seeing the Tsoi Wall – a wall covered in graffiti dedicated to the late Russian rock legend Viktor Tsoi. One of Pavel’s most recognizable works was a giant pair of glasses created on the snow, using a street light to help complete the image. The work can only be seen correctly from certain angles. Giant scale candy bars replicas- Alenka is one of few products that survived from Soviet times to present day. He achieved a lot in his 29 years. “Put simply, I want to teach people in this country to tell lies from the truth and to tell bad from good. This is what our people still cannot do,” P183 told Russia Today in a TV interview. He often wore a black balaclava during the interview to hide his identity. “The mission of street art is a dialogue with the ordinary person. You don’t need a gallery for that; nobody has to take people’s money so they can look at your work. In a city, this is a visual game: a person does not go to the museum, but still has a chance to see, to interpret, to think about your work,” he said with conviction. “I am by nature generally austere, accustomed to silence, to solitude. And I very much love dirt. In the summertime, I look at my shoes and at their soles. Dirt in itself is simple and natural; there is nothing exaggerated about it. When a person can look at himself as if looking at dirt, seeing the great in the small, we achieve balance. Without this balance of our souls, minds, and actions in the outside world, we risk becoming [like] McDonald’s, with its menus and portions, always prepared according to identical proportions and measurements.”

Wheatpasting #2

How To Make Wheat Paste?

Wheat paste is easy to make, isn’t expensive and toxic. It is good for pasting posters and to make paper-mache crafts. This is pretty basic stuff if you have this ingredients at home:

  1. 750 ml of water
  2. 3 spoons of flour
  3. saucepan

Let’s cook the glue!

First, boil the water for 10 minutes and add 3 spoons of flour. Mix and stir it very well. The texture must be smooth. Next get it cool and… it’s ready to use but remember don’t leave more than 2 days, it starts stink. If you want to store longer, put to fridge.

How To Paste Artwork?

In this part of work you will need:

  1. poster
  2. paste
  3. brush
  4. place
  5. FUN!

First, using brush start pasting place you are going to stick the artwork. Next paste poster carefully because paper may get ripped. When poster is sticked add another layer of glue upon artwork. Done! Now it’s very sticky! Remember if you don’t want to have trouble forgot pasting artwork on another people property: walls, fences, gates etc.

I guess you will have a lot of fun. Wheatpasting give you chance to express yourself using other street art technique. So let’s make your own piece of art! Cheer!

Introduction

Street art is a very popular form of art all over the world. The most known form of street art is traditional graffiti but artists use other techniques or materials like stenciles, stickers, wheatpasting, street installations and sculptures. You can find it on buildings, bus stops and street signs. Street art has become a global culture. It started secretly because painting in public and private property without permission is illegal. People often have different opinions about street art. Some think it is vandalism and others think it is new form of culture. Street artists do their work for a reason. Often artists choose street art because they want to have contact with people. Some artists try to express their political opinion or modify public spaces make them colorful. Others like to do things that are forbidden.
